After hosting its first local visitors last year, the only hotel in the Channel Islands designed to be accessible to everyone is hoping to boost the number of stays in 2025.
Express has been catching up with the island's charities to find out how last year went and what their greatest wishes are for 2025. Maison des Landes shared theirs...
For Maison des Landes Hotel the highlight of the year was being able for the first time since 2019 to be able to visitors from the United Kingdom and occasionally further afield for the whole season following a refurbishment programme that took two-and-a-half years to complete at a cost of almost £4 million.
For the first time since the hotel’s opening in the id-1960s, the refurbishment also allowed the premises to be able to cater for local residents to visit for lunches, afternoon teas, meetings and other activities at what is called the Community Hub. Almost 5,000 local people took advantage of the new facilities available to them.
Every hotel relies on the number of bed-nights it can sell and Maison des Landes’ greatest challenge has been, after being out of the marketplace for three years, generating the levels of business it enjoyed pre-covid.

The situation regarding the availability of ferry timetables has not been helpful with many intending visitors still waiting to confirm their intentions.
That the response to an active and creative marketing programme supported by excellent feedback from guests in 2024, will boost the number of bed-nights in the Hotel, that more and more local carers and those they care for will take advantage of respite holiday breaks and that the Community Hub continues to attract daytime visitors using the restaurant, meeting facilities and the heated indoor swimming pool.
